Simon Arendt is an endurance multisport athlete with a passion for trail running. Born and raised in Downtown Frederick, he now resides near Gambrill with his mother, wife, baby, and dog. Simon’s love for the outdoors extends beyond running; he enjoys hiking, skiing, rafting, camping, skating, biking—any activity that gets him outside and building community.
In 2020, after losing his job, Simon channeled his energy into running. What started on the road soon transitioned to trail running, where he found his true calling. Training for a local 50-mile race sparked an enduring passion that has taken him on trails across the country.
One of Simon’s most memorable achievements was completing the Rim2Rim2Rim of the Grand Canyon in 2024, an adventure filled with pride and countless stories. His training routine is creatively designed to fit into his life, with early mornings, one-way runs, and local loops, all of which enhance his daily life.
For Simon, trail running is not just about the physical challenge; it’s about the time spent in nature, which helps him stay sharp, thoughtful, and caring. Many important decisions in his life have been made during long runs in the forest.
With three years of ultramarathon experience, Simon is steadily working towards competing in regional 100k and 100-mile races. His ultimate goal is to explore as many trails as possible and learn about himself in the process. The concept of endurance has taken on new meaning for him, providing a fresh perspective on daily tasks and life challenges. His running journey has instilled confidence, positivity, and a realistic approach to overcoming obstacles, always ready to face new challenges with preparation and determination.
